Four registered activities, and one job: work out what the technology has to do, write it down, then supply it. This page sets out each activity in full, the four ways work can be bought, the work we turn down, and what we need from you to be useful.

§ 01 · SIC 62020

Device and IT consultancy

This is the part that happens before any money is spent on hardware, and it is where the avoidable expense usually gets designed out. The output is a written specification: a document naming models, quantities, configurations and accessories, with the reasoning for each choice and a note on the options we rejected and why.

It is quoted and invoiced as its own piece of work. You are not buying it in order to unlock a discount on goods, and it is not recovered through a hardware margin. The document is yours: take it to a distributor, to a competitor, or to your own IT contractor and have them quote against it. We would rather write a specification you shop around than a quote you cannot check.

What this typically covers

  • Device selection. Which models actually meet the requirement, at what configuration, and where the cheaper option is genuinely sufficient.
  • Fleet sizing and refresh cycles. How many units, on what replacement horizon, so that failures stop being emergencies.
  • Compatibility and configuration review. Whether the laptop, dock, monitors and cable standard you are being sold will in fact work together.
  • Mobile device policy. Company handsets versus personal devices, what accessories a staff device needs to survive, and how spares are held.
  • Quote review. An independent read of a proposal you already hold, line by line, including what has been left out of it.
  • End-of-life planning. What to do with the kit being retired, and what has to be recorded before it leaves.

What it produces

A written specification you can act on without us: models and quantities, configuration detail, accessory list, an indicative budget band, a refresh horizon, and the rejected alternatives with reasons. Delivered as a document, not a verbal recommendation.

§ 02 · SIC 47421

Mobile telephones and tablets

New handsets and tablets supplied as goods, for business fleets and for individuals. Devices are supplied SIM-free and unlocked so that the hardware decision and the airtime decision stay separate — which matters, because the two are almost always bundled precisely to stop you comparing either one.

We do not sell airtime, network contracts or SIM plans, we are not tied to an operator, and we take no commission from one. If your current contract is the more expensive half of the problem, we will say so in the specification, even though it is not something we can sell you a fix for.

What we supply here

  • Business and personal handsets, new and unlocked
  • Tablets, and the keyboards and stands that make them usable for work
  • Protective cases and screen protection specified to the actual use — site work is not desk work
  • Chargers, cables and power banks to a consistent standard across a fleet
  • Matched sets for teams, quoted with a spare allowance rather than exactly to headcount
We supply new goods only. We do not deal in used, refurbished or grey-import handsets, and we do not unlock devices bound to another operator.

§ 03 · SIC 47789

Computing devices, peripherals and accessories

The rest of the working setup. Individually these are ordinary items; the value is in quoting them as a configured set, because that is the level at which the expensive mistakes are made — a laptop that will not drive two monitors through the dock that was sold with it, a cable standard that quietly halves the display refresh rate, a headset that will not pair with the phone the same person was issued.

What we supply here

  • Laptops and desktops, specified to the workload rather than to the price point
  • Monitors, mounts and docking stations, checked against the machine driving them
  • Keyboards, mice and input devices, including ergonomic alternatives where they are warranted
  • Headsets and webcams for meeting-heavy roles
  • External and portable storage
  • Cabling, adapters, surge protection and power distribution
  • Small networking hardware — routers, switches, access points and their cabling

Configured sets, not line items

Where a role needs several items to work together, we quote the whole set as one entry with the interoperability stated: this laptop, this dock, these two monitors, this cable standard, and the reason they belong together. If you split the order across suppliers afterwards, the set description still tells you what has to match.

§ 04 · SIC 47910

Remote ordering and UK dispatch

This is the channel rather than a product, and it explains the shape of everything above. We sell at a distance — by internet and mail order — which means there is no counter conversation to rely on and every material fact has to be written down before you commit.

How an order runs

  • Itemised quote by email. Unit prices, quantities, delivery charge, VAT treatment and lead times, line by line.
  • Written order acknowledgement. Confirming what was ordered, at what price, to what address, with the expected dispatch window.
  • Tracked dispatch. By courier or post to a United Kingdom address, with the tracking reference sent to you.
  • Re-specification, not substitution. If a specified model becomes unavailable, we come back to you with alternatives; we never swap an item silently.
  • Reconciliation on arrival. What arrived checked against what was specified, in writing, with serial numbers for your asset record.
Because this is a distance sale, consumers have the statutory fourteen-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Business purchases are on the terms agreed in the quote. Both are set out at terms of sale.

§ 05 — How work is bought

Four formats, priced apart

Nothing here is conditional on buying anything else here. Prices are quoted in advance in every case; we do not publish a rate card because the scope varies too much for a published number to be honest.

Scoping callFormat A
Twenty minutes to establish what you have, what has to change, and whether we are the right supplier. Ends with either a proposal for Format B, a direct quote if you already know what you want, or a recommendation to go elsewhere.
Free
No obligation
Specification reviewFormat B
Fixed-fee advisory work producing the written specification. Scope, fee and turnaround agreed in writing before it starts. Includes independent review of quotes you already hold. Invoiced whether or not you then buy goods from us.
Fixed fee
Quoted in advance
Supply against specificationFormat C
Goods supplied to an agreed itemised quote — devices, peripherals, accessories — dispatched to a UK address and reconciled against the specification on arrival. Available with or without a preceding Format B.
Per itemised quote
Unit prices shown
Standing advisoryFormat D
A named contact for device questions as they arise over an agreed period: refresh timing, compatibility checks, replacement of failed units, review of incoming supplier proposals. Billed for time used, with no minimum hardware volume attached.
Hourly
Billed as used

§ 06 — The sequence

Six stages, exit at any of them

01

Enquiry

An email describing the problem. Reply within one working day.

02

Scoping call

Twenty minutes, free, no obligation. Current position, constraints, budget band, deadline.

03

Written specification

Models, quantities, configuration, reasoning, rejected alternatives. Invoiced separately from goods.

04

Itemised quote

Unit prices, delivery, VAT, lead times. No obligation to proceed.

05

Order and dispatch

Written acknowledgement, then tracked delivery to a UK address.

06

Handover check

Reconciliation against the specification, warranty terms, serial record.

§ 07 — Limits

Work we turn down

A supplier’s limits are more informative than its capabilities, because they cost something to publish. These are ours.

  • Airtime, network contracts and SIM plans. Not a registered activity of ours, and we take no operator commission. Buy the connectivity separately.
  • Repair, screen replacement and data recovery. We supply new goods; we do not repair, and we will not subcontract a repair and add a margin to it.
  • Used, refurbished and grey-import stock. We will tell you when refurbished equipment would meet your specification more cheaply, and then point you elsewhere for it.
  • Unlocking devices bound to another operator. Not something we do.
  • Managed IT support desks and 24/7 monitoring. We are a consultancy and a supplier, not an outsourced helpdesk, and pretending otherwise would fail you at the worst moment.
  • Bespoke software development. Not registered activity of ours. Where a problem is really a software problem, we will say so rather than selling hardware at it.
  • Bulk orders without a named end user or delivery address. We do not supply into onward-export or drop-shipping arrangements we cannot see the end of.
  • Anything requiring us to recommend a product we would not use. If the only way to win the work is to specify something we think is wrong, we decline the work.

§ 08 — From you

What we need to be useful

  • What you are running now. Rough models and ages are enough; a complete asset list is a bonus, not a prerequisite.
  • How many people it has to cover, and whether that number is about to change.
  • What breaks today. The specific complaint — “the laptops cannot drive the second screen”, “handsets last eighteen months” — is worth more than a general sense of dissatisfaction.
  • A budget band. Not a precise figure. A range stops us specifying something you were never going to authorise.
  • The date it has to work by. Lead times on some hardware are long enough to change the recommendation entirely.
  • Any existing quote you want reviewed, and whoever else is already involved.
  • Constraints we cannot see. An incumbent supplier, a group IT policy, a lease still running, software that only works on one platform.

Next step

Send the problem, not the product list.

If you already know exactly what you want, send the list and we will quote it. If you do not, that is the more common case and the one this whole process is built for.
